Press Release: ProphetX and Plaee Partner to Scale Regulated U.S. Sports Prediction Markets for Operators | Featured Image by FF News

ProphetX has entered a strategic technology partnership with Plaee to integrate its federally regulated sports prediction market into Plaee’s distribution infrastructure. This move provides fintech operators a compliant, turnkey route to offer sports event contracts without building custom exchange connectivity, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for firms looking to enter the regulated prediction market sector.

What was announced

The partnership centers on a single integration that connects distribution operators to ProphetX’s exchange. This allows operators to either add prediction markets to their current product suites or launch dedicated channels within weeks using their existing teams. The integration utilizes Plaee’s full technology stack, which includes Prediction Trader—a white-label trading interface—and PlaeeOS, a backend engine designed for CRM, personalization, and monetization.

ProphetX functions as the regulated infrastructure provider in this arrangement. Under its Partner Distribution Program, it manages the heavy lifting of clearing, custody, and market operations. Crucially for operators, ProphetX maintains the core regulatory functions of a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulated exchange. This structure enables Plaee’s clients to access a regulated environment without the requirement of becoming a Designated Contract Market (DCM) or Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) themselves.

The integration is currently in Beta. Once fully deployed, ProphetX will be embedded as a regulated exchange option within the PlaeeOS backend and the Prediction Trader interface. This provides a scalable path to onboard new distribution partners while avoiding the need for bespoke builds for every individual operator. The collaboration aims to solve three primary hurdles for market entrants: product development costs, access to deep liquidity, and speed to market.

"Plaee was built to remove the three biggest hurdles for operators: Product development, access to liquidity and time-to-market. ProphetX brings a proven, CFTC-compliant exchange purpose-built for sports to our stack. Operators will immediately benefit from ProphetX’s breadth and depth of markets, while ProphetX will enjoy greater distribution; all from our single integration,"

Leon Okun, Co-Founder and CEO at Plaee.

The companies involved

ProphetX distinguishes itself as the first federally regulated, sports-native prediction market in the United States. By operating under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), it provides a structured financial framework for sports-based contracts, moving these activities into the realm of regulated derivatives. The company focuses on building the underlying infrastructure—specifically clearing and custody—that allows third-party platforms to offer prediction market access to their own audiences natively.

Plaee is a technology provider specializing in prediction-native solutions for distribution operators and trading platforms. Its platform is designed for firms that require a ready-made interface and backend to manage user relationships and market data without the burden of building the technology from scratch. By providing the "connective tissue" between regulated exchanges and consumer-facing operators, Plaee aims to streamline the technical requirements of the sector. The company’s architecture, including the PlaeeOS engine, is built to handle the specific demands of high-frequency prediction trading and user monetization, positioning itself as a middle-layer service provider in the evolving fintech landscape for event-based wagering and hedging.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has followed the expansion of both companies as they build out the infrastructure for regulated prediction markets. We previously covered how Optimove and Plaee Partner to Deliver Turnkey Prediction Market Infrastructure for iGaming, a deal that integrated Plaee’s tech with Optimove’s marketing platform to enhance operator reach. Additionally, we reported on ProphetX’s efforts to improve liquidity and user experience through a collaboration with EDGE Markets. That story, EDGE Markets Partners with ProphetX to Enable $1M Daily Real-Time Deposits for Traders, detailed the implementation of 24/7 banking rails to support high-volume trading on the exchange. These moves highlight a broader trend of institutionalizing sports-based prediction markets through robust financial technology and regulated frameworks.

What this means

This partnership signals a shift in the prediction market sector from standalone "walled garden" platforms toward a fragmented, B2B2C distribution model. By separating the exchange layer from the distribution technology, the industry is adopting a structure similar to traditional equities or forex markets. This puts pressure on unregulated or offshore operators who cannot offer the same level of legal certainty or institutional-grade clearing. However, the success of this model depends on whether the CFTC continues to permit sports-based contracts to flourish under its jurisdiction. The move to a "single integration" model suggests that the next phase of competition in this sector will be won on distribution reach and the ease of onboarding rather than just exchange liquidity.
