DeepSigma has launched a live paper-trading demo for its decentralized perpetual futures exchange, targeting 77 real-world asset (RWA) markets. By applying the perpetuals model to traditional equities, commodities, and yields via the Cypherium blockchain, the platform aims to bridge the gap between crypto-native trading structures and regulated financial instruments.

What was announced

DeepSigma’s platform launch introduces a decentralized environment for trading perpetual contracts that track real-world markets without requiring the tokenization or custody of the underlying assets. The live demo supports 77 RWA perpetual contracts, encompassing major U.S. equities and indexes such as the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite, Russell 2000, and VIX. It also includes S&P sector ETFs, commodities like WTI and Brent crude oil, gold, silver, natural gas, copper, and U.S. Treasury yields.

The technical architecture is specifically designed to handle the nuances of traditional markets, such as limited trading hours and fragmented price discovery. DeepSigma utilizes a central limit order book (CLOB) model alongside a clearing layer that manages positions, collateral, margin, and settlement. To mitigate risks associated with liquidity gaps and market closures, the platform incorporates multi-source external pricing, mark-price mechanisms, position limits, circuit breakers, and an insurance mechanism for stressed conditions.

On the compliance front, DeepSigma is implementing a decentralized identity infrastructure based on zero-knowledge proofs. This "prove eligibility, not identity" model is intended to satisfy U.S. regulatory requirements while maintaining user privacy. Additionally, the platform features an off-chain AI Market Analysis Desk designed to generate trading strategies without having the authority to execute trades or access user assets.

The companies involved

DeepSigma is a decentralized exchange focused on real-world assets, led by a team with backgrounds in both high-frequency traditional finance and blockchain infrastructure. The leadership includes CEO Sky Guo, who is also the founder of Cypherium; CFO Albert Xu, a former FICC portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs; CTO Chaoran Wang, previously an engineer at Google and Uber and founder of UmiUmi; and Chief Quant Director Jenny Chen, a former quantitative macro trader at Citadel Securities.

The platform is powered by Cypherium, an open, permissionless Layer 1 blockchain. Cypherium’s architecture is unique in its combination of Proof-of-Work with HotStuff-derived Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus, a hybrid model designed to achieve high throughput—reportedly hundreds of thousands of transactions per second—necessary for on-chain financial activity. The technology is backed by four granted U.S. patents (Nos. 12,443,569; 11,907,174; 11,516,006; and 11,411,721) covering its consensus mechanisms. Sky Guo, a named inventor on these patents, has previously collaborated with the Swiss National Bank on central bank digital currency (CBDC) research and presented at major international forums including the United Nations and Nasdaq.

What this means

The RWA sector is evolving beyond the simple tokenization of physical assets toward more complex, synthetic financial products. By bringing perpetual futures—a staple of the crypto markets—to traditional equities and commodities, the industry is attempting to offer 24/7-style exposure to assets that are traditionally constrained by exchange hours. The use of zero-knowledge proofs for "eligibility" rather than full identity disclosure represents a significant shift in how DeFi platforms approach compliance, potentially setting a new standard for institutional-grade decentralized finance. However, the move puts pressure on the reliability of external oracles and mark-price mechanisms to prevent manipulation during periods of low liquidity in the underlying traditional markets.
