Lynq and The Better Money Company (TBMC) have successfully executed a live proof of concept for institutional settlement, converting assets into RLUSD in minutes. This demonstration marks a shift toward bypassing traditional banking windows and credit facilities, offering fintech professionals a glimpse into high-velocity, interest-bearing capital movement within digital asset markets.

What was announced

The collaboration between Lynq and The Better Money Company (TBMC) centered on a live proof of concept (PoC) designed to prove that institutional-grade settlement can occur in minutes rather than days. During the exercise, TBMC processed a conversion of client assets held on the Lynq network into RLUSD. This transaction was not a simulation; it utilized live production accounts and involved real institutional counterparties to demonstrate the practical viability of the workflow in a real-world environment.

A primary technical hurdle addressed in this PoC is the "dead time" usually associated with asset transfers. Traditionally, capital moving between institutions often stops accruing interest once it enters the settlement pipeline. To solve this, Lynq integrated Tassat’s Yield in Transit™ functionality. This system calculates accrued interest based on the exact duration an asset is held during the settlement process, ensuring that yield remains intact even as the capital is in motion.

The PoC also focused on the removal of credit-based bridges. In many current digital asset environments, speed is achieved by using credit facilities to "stand in" for the time it takes for a traditional bank transfer to clear. This demonstration bypassed those traditional banking windows entirely, moving collateral onchain to achieve near-instant finality. This initiative is a component of a wider strategy for Lynq, which aims to unify creation, redemption, and capital movement into a single institutional workflow. The company has set a target for native stablecoin support on its platform by the end of 2026.

"Institutions have never lacked capital. What they have lacked is the ability to move it, in the right form, to the right place, at the moment it is needed. This proof of concept is small by design, but it answers a real question: can a digital dollar settle between institutions in minutes, with no credit facility standing in for speed. It can. Settlement is the layer everything else in this industry is eventually going to be judged by. "

The companies involved

Lynq operates as an institutional settlement network specifically tailored for the complexities of digital asset markets. The company positions itself as a critical infrastructure layer, focusing on the integration of settlement and capital movement to improve liquidity efficiency for professional market participants. By providing a network that connects various stages of the asset lifecycle—from creation to final redemption—Lynq seeks to reduce the friction inherent in moving large-scale capital across disparate digital environments.

The Better Money Company, known as TBMC, functions as a stablecoin clearinghouse. Its primary role in the market is to simplify the way firms interact with stablecoins, allowing them to begin and end settlement processes in the specific digital currency they require at par value. TBMC’s infrastructure is designed to address the issue of stablecoin fragmentation, where different assets and protocols often struggle to interoperate within a single workflow. By acting as a clearinghouse, TBMC provides the necessary rails for firms to move onchain collateral without the need for traditional banking intermediaries or the reliance on credit-based speed solutions. Together, these companies represent a specialized segment of the fintech sector dedicated to institutionalizing decentralized finance tools.

What this means

This proof of concept highlights a critical shift in how stablecoins are perceived by the institutional sector: moving from speculative assets to functional settlement infrastructure. By proving that settlement can occur in minutes without sacrificing yield, Lynq and TBMC are directly challenging the T+1 or T+2 standards of legacy finance. The use of RLUSD in this context suggests that the industry is moving toward regulated, high-liquidity tokens for heavy-duty clearing. However, the 2026 target for native support indicates that while the technology is ready, the road to full institutional adoption remains long. The real pressure now falls on traditional correspondent banks to justify their multi-day settlement windows in an era of 24/7 onchain liquidity.
