TradeStation Europe B.V. has introduced extended-hours options trading and reduced commissions for retail and institutional traders across the European Economic Area. By aligning with Cboe’s new trading sessions, the firm is narrowing the gap between European time zones and U.S. market activity, providing sophisticated traders with greater flexibility to manage risk during volatile pre-market windows.

What was announced

TradeStation Europe, the recently licensed subsidiary of TradeStation Group, Inc., has rolled out a suite of updates designed to enhance access to U.S. markets for clients in the Netherlands and the wider European Economic Area (EEA). The primary feature is the introduction of extended-hours options trading, allowing clients to trade eligible equity options during a pre-market session from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. ET, as well as an extended curb session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.

This move follows Cboe Global Markets’ launch of extended trading sessions for 24 individual stocks and five ETFs. Beyond timing, the update introduces multi-leg single-stock option spreads, enabling European clients to build complex strategies on individual equities rather than being limited to single-leg options. This is accompanied by expanded intraday trading capabilities across equities, options, and futures, supported by reduced intraday futures margin requirements.

The firm has also adjusted its pricing structure to compete more aggressively in the brokerage space. Options commissions have been reduced to $0.60 per contract, while equities pricing is now set at $0.005 per share. These enhancements are intended to help active traders respond to overnight geopolitical events, economic data releases, and pre-market earnings announcements that occur outside of regular U.S. trading hours, providing more opportunities to hedge positions as market conditions evolve.

The companies involved

TradeStation Europe B.V. is the European brokerage arm of TradeStation Group, Inc. The firm established its presence as a fully licensed MiFID investment firm in June 2026, operating under the regulation of the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). Based in the Netherlands, it provides a gateway for European retail and institutional investors to access U.S. equities, options, and futures markets, supported by local compliance and multilingual support teams.

Cboe Global Markets, whose infrastructure underpins the new extended-hours sessions, is a major global exchange operator. The company has a significant footprint in the European market through entities like Cboe Clear Europe. Cboe has been instrumental in expanding the availability of U.S. listed derivatives and equities to a global audience, recently increasing the liquidity and accessibility of single-stock options outside of traditional North American trading hours. The relationship between these entities allows European-based firms like TradeStation Europe to offer their clients the ability to trade U.S. assets during the European business day, bridging the geographical divide between the two major markets.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the expansion of U.S. market access and clearing services within Europe. In October 2026, we reported that Cboe Clear Europe Expands SFT Service to Include U.S. Equities Clearing, highlighting the growing infrastructure supporting transatlantic trading. The competitive landscape for U.S. share trading has also intensified, as seen when Investa Disrupts UK Market with Zero-Fee US Share Trading and Android Launch.

Furthermore, the trend toward 24-hour access is gaining momentum; FF News covered how tastytrade Launches 24/5 Global Trading Hours for Index Options to Empower Active Retail Traders earlier this year. We also noted the industry's focus on Cboe’s market influence when the Trading Technologies TT FX Team to Ring Closing Bell at Cboe Global Markets in August.

What this means

The move toward extended-hours options trading signals a significant shift in how European brokerages must compete for sophisticated retail and institutional flow. By reducing commissions and expanding the trading window, TradeStation Europe is placing direct pressure on traditional European brokers that have historically been slow to offer deep U.S. market integration. This announcement highlights a broader industry trend where the "regular" trading session is becoming less relevant for high-frequency and news-driven strategies. As more platforms adopt extended-session models, the primary challenge for the sector will be maintaining liquidity and managing the increased operational risks associated with trading during thinner, overnight windows.
