SettleMint has integrated its Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform with IBM Digital Asset Haven to streamline the management of tokenized assets for regulated financial institutions. This collaboration allows banks and governments to move digital asset pilots into production by combining institutional-grade wallet security with automated transfer rules on permissioned Ethereum Virtual Machine networks.

What was announced

The integration of SettleMint’s Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform (DALP) with IBM Digital Asset Haven is designed to provide a unified environment for managing the full lifecycle of tokenized assets. The solution targets financial institutions, governments, and other regulated organizations, enabling them to handle securities, deposits, equities, treasuries, and stablecoins from initial issuance through to transaction approval. By bridging these two technologies, organizations can move rapidly from experimental pilots to full production environments with institutional controls at every layer.

The system leverages IBM Digital Asset Haven for its core security features, specifically wallet and key management, transaction orchestration, and policy governance. SettleMint’s DALP layer adds the necessary business logic, applying asset-eligibility and transfer rules to align who sets policy, who approves activity, and who resolves exceptions. A key technical capability of the integration is the support for delivery versus payment (DvP) on permissioned Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, allowing for the simultaneous exchange of assets and payments to reduce settlement risk. The integration is currently available, aiming to allow digital assets to operate within existing enterprise environments rather than requiring a separate technology stack.

The companies involved

IBM is a global technology and consulting giant that has become a cornerstone of financial services infrastructure. With a history spanning over a century, the company has pivoted significantly toward hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence in recent years. Its involvement in the digital asset space is frequently tied to its high-security hardware and software offerings, such as IBM Z and LinuxONE, which provide the confidential computing environments necessary for institutional-grade custody and transaction processing. FF News has tracked IBM's progress across 41 previous stories, highlighting its deep integration into the global banking sector.

SettleMint is a specialized blockchain-platform-as-a-service provider that aims to simplify the development and deployment of distributed ledger technology (DLT) applications. The company’s Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform is designed to abstract the complexity of blockchain protocols, allowing developers to focus on the business logic of tokenization rather than the underlying infrastructure. By positioning itself as a bridge between traditional enterprise systems and decentralized networks, SettleMint has carved out a niche in the regulated finance sector, where compliance and operational control are paramount. FF News has covered SettleMint's developments in 4 prior reports.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has extensively covered IBM’s expanding role in financial governance and infrastructure. Recently, we reported on an IBM Study: 80% of UK Enterprises Escalate AI Incidents to Boards as Governance Lags. The firm has also been active in the Middle East, with Mashreq and IBM Pilot Agentic AI to Revolutionize Software Engineering in Digital Banking and EBank and IBM Partner to Scale AI-Ready Data Governance in Egypt. Additionally, AAIB Bolsters Digital Security with IBM Safer Payments Integration in Egypt, highlighting IBM's consistent focus on risk management and security.

What this means

This integration signals a shift in the tokenization market from experimental sandboxes to hardened production environments. For years, the barrier to institutional adoption has been the friction between agile blockchain protocols and the rigid, high-security requirements of bank-grade infrastructure. By pairing SettleMint’s lifecycle management with IBM’s hardware-backed security, the industry is moving toward a "plug-and-play" model for regulated tokens. This puts pressure on niche custody providers who lack the broader enterprise integration capabilities of a legacy giant like IBM. The real test for the sector will be whether this unified stack can finally unlock liquidity in tokenized treasuries and stablecoins at scale.
