Gemini Space Station, Inc. and Apex Fintech Solutions Inc. have signed a letter of intent to integrate regulated crypto event contracts into the broader brokerage ecosystem. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant bridge between decentralized asset classes and traditional brokerage infrastructure, utilizing regulated clearing and execution to legitimize prediction markets for retail and institutional users.

What was announced

The core of the agreement establishes Gemini Titan, a subsidiary of Gemini, as the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) of Apex Fintech Solutions. This arrangement allows brokerage firms that utilize Apex’s FCM to offer their customers access to crypto-based prediction markets, with Gemini handling both execution and clearing.

The partnership is built upon a series of regulatory approvals secured by Gemini. In December 2025, Gemini Titan obtained a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which provided the legal framework to launch prediction trading. Furthermore, in April, the subsidiary Gemini Olympus secured a CFTC Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license. This milestone allowed Gemini to bring the clearing and settlement of derivatives in-house, creating a vertically integrated stack for event contracts.

While the exclusivity applies specifically to crypto event contracts, the letter of intent also includes provisions for non-exclusive collaboration in other sectors. This gives Apex the flexibility to work with Gemini on event contracts related to economic indicators, financial markets, and sports. The two entities expect to finalize the specific details of this strategic alliance in the coming weeks.

"Leveraging more than a decade of experience building and operating a regulated platform for crypto, a new and emergent asset class, we deliberately chose to build our predictions platform in-house. We believe that predictions are the future of markets, and this strategy allows us to expand our offering and open access to valued partners like Apex as demand for event contracts grows."

Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini.

The companies involved

Gemini Space Station, Inc., commonly known as Gemini, is a major player in the digital asset space, founded on the principle of providing a regulated environment for cryptocurrency exchange and custody. The firm has aggressively pursued a strategy of regulatory compliance, operating through various specialized subsidiaries such as Gemini Titan and Gemini Olympus to manage specific functions like contract execution and derivatives clearing under CFTC oversight.

Apex Fintech Solutions Inc. operates as a critical infrastructure provider for the modern investing landscape. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Apex Clearing Corporation, functions as a custodian and clearing broker, powering many of the world’s most prominent fintech applications and digital brokerages. Apex is deeply embedded in the regulatory framework of traditional finance, maintaining memberships with FINRA and the SIPC. The company has a history of collaborating with Gemini; in July, the two firms partnered to launch 0% commission stock trading for specific U.S. customers, with Apex providing the necessary custodial and clearing services. This latest move into event contracts represents an expansion of their existing technical and operational relationship.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the expansion of Apex Fintech Solutions as it integrates its clearing and treasury capabilities across the financial services sector. We recently covered how Rippling and Apex Fintech Solutions Launch Integrated Treasury Management for 30,000+ Businesses, highlighting Apex’s role in streamlining back-office operations for high-growth companies. Additionally, our reporting on the broader digital asset ecosystem includes the recent news that Dinari Launches First Tokenized U.S. Stocks for Self-Custody Trading via USDC Partnership, which reflects the ongoing trend of merging traditional securities with blockchain-based settlement—a trend this Gemini-Apex partnership further accelerates.

What this means

This move signals a maturing of the prediction market sector, shifting it from the fringes of "DeFi" into the regulated core of the brokerage industry. By utilizing Gemini’s DCM and DCO licenses, Apex is effectively removing the primary barrier to entry for traditional brokers: regulatory risk. The "plumbing" mentioned by Travis McGhee at Apex is the most difficult part of the stack to build, and by outsourcing it to Gemini, Apex is putting pressure on other clearing providers to offer similar derivatives access.

The industry must now consider whether event contracts will remain a niche product or if they will begin to cannibalize volume from traditional options and futures. As crypto event contracts become a standard feature in retail brokerage apps, the focus will likely shift to how the CFTC manages the oversight of these non-traditional underlying assets at scale.
