London-based capital markets firm LO:TECH has secured $12 million in Series A funding to scale its 24/7 trading infrastructure. As institutional interest shifts from crypto speculation toward tokenised real-world assets, the firm’s ability to provide cross-venue execution across traditional and digital markets offers a critical bridge for firms navigating the transition to always-on financial markets.

What was announced

LO:TECH announced the close of a $12 million Series A round on November 2, 2026. The investment was led by MMC, with participation from Atka and existing backers Faction and 13 Books Capital. Alongside the funding, the firm is officially launching its execution services, which are designed to provide institutional clients with efficient access to traditional, digital, and prediction markets. The infrastructure is built to operate on any venue and across any asset class at any time.

The capital is earmarked for international expansion, specifically targeting the US and Asia-Pacific regions with new offices planned for New York and Singapore. LO:TECH also intends to pursue regulatory licences in these new jurisdictions, including exploring licences in the US. The launch coincides with a significant shift in market dynamics; while the total crypto market capitalisation fell approximately 50% in the year leading to June 2026, the value of tokenised real-world assets (RWAs) on public blockchains nearly doubled from $20.6 billion to $38 billion in the same period.

Tokenised equities specifically saw a surge from $960 million in March to $3.2 billion by late September. LO:TECH’s infrastructure is built to handle these "always-on" markets, contrasting with traditional systems designed for standard exchange hours. The firm reports triple-digit revenue growth over the past year despite volatile conditions in the broader digital asset space, positioning itself to connect liquidity across digital assets and tokenised traditional assets.

"Capital markets were built for a world that opened at 8am and closed at 4.30pm. That's not how risk is traded any more,"

Tim Meggs, CEO and Co-Founder of LO:TECH

The companies involved

LO:TECH is a London-based capital markets firm that develops trading infrastructure for onchain and 24/7 markets. The company was co-founded by CEO Tim Meggs and CTO Marcus Horsley, who built the platform to operate across any asset class and venue. The firm positions itself as a bridge between the technological agility of digital asset platforms and the institutional requirements of traditional finance, aiming to compete with the largest names in traditional finance from its base in London.

MMC, the lead investor in this round, is a venture capital firm that has spent several years focusing on blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Partner Ollie Ricards represents the firm’s interest in the sector. 13books Capital is a specialist fintech venture capital firm that has been an active supporter of the London fintech ecosystem. Faction and Atka round out the investment group, with the latter joining as a participant in this Series A round. Together, these investors are backing a shift toward a market structure where tokenised equities and real-world assets are traded on the same infrastructure as native digital assets, following major industry moves like the joint venture between Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and OKX.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the investment activity of LO:TECH’s backers, particularly 13books Capital. In July 2024, we reported that 13books Capital Closes New £121 Million Fund to Invest in the Founders Building Tomorrow’s Fintech Businesses. This fund was specifically designed to support fintech firms during their growth stages. Our coverage of the broader fintech ecosystem also includes significant funding rounds for firms like Aria, which Secures €247M in New Funding to Combat Europe’s Late Payments Crisis, and Ramify, which Raises €11m to Become the French Leader in Premium Wealth Management. These reports highlight a sustained appetite for infrastructure-level financial technology despite broader market volatility.

What this means

This announcement signals that the tokenisation of traditional assets is moving past the proof-of-concept stage into a structural market shift. When traditional giants like ICE and OKX form joint ventures for tokenised equities, the industry requires a new breed of intermediary that isn't tethered to the legacy 9-to-5 trading day. LO:TECH is challenging the dominance of traditional prime brokers and execution desks by betting that the future of liquidity is onchain and perpetual. The pressure is now on traditional market makers to either upgrade their legacy stacks or risk losing volume to native 24/7 firms as institutional capital seeks more efficient, round-the-clock exposure to global assets.
