Press Release: Fundway Partners with Monex to Streamline Private Markets FX for Fund Managers | Featured Image by FF News

Fundway has integrated Monex into its service provider platform, marking the first time the marketplace has included a specialist for foreign exchange and currency infrastructure. For fund managers navigating cross-border investor subscriptions and capital calls, the partnership provides a streamlined route to institutional-grade FX execution and risk management during the fund setup phase.

What was announced

The partnership allows fund managers to request tailored offers from Monex directly through the Fundway platform. Designed for both emerging managers preparing for a launch and established firms reviewing existing arrangements, the process involves answering a series of targeted questions regarding their fund structure and currency requirements. Upon receiving consent, Fundway facilitates an introduction to the Monex team. Terms and pricing are subsequently negotiated and agreed upon directly with Monex, subject to jurisdiction and onboarding requirements.

Monex joins a roster of existing service providers on the platform, including Bolder Group, Funds Avenue / Trustmoore, OM24 Global, and Fundtec. As the first FX specialist to join, Monex brings capabilities in currency risk management, payment solutions, and FX execution. The group reported handling over US$198 billion in annual FX turnover in 2025 and serves a global client base of more than 73,000. It supports General Partners (GPs), fund managers, and portfolio companies across the full life cycle of a fund, from the first close through to the final exit.

The service is available across a wide range of fund types, including private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds, private credit, and digital assets. Geographically, the platform supports managers operating in major financial hubs such as the UK, Luxembourg, Ireland, Singapore, Switzerland, Delaware, and the Cayman Islands. Fundway operates as an introducer and does not provide financial advice, earning revenue through its provider partnerships rather than charging the fund managers.

"Fund managers operate across currencies from day one, through investor subscriptions, capital calls, distributions and hedging, yet currency is often addressed late and in isolation."

The companies involved

Fundway is a specialized fintech platform that acts as a free aggregator for investment fund setup costs. By connecting fund managers with verified service providers, it aims to bring transparency to the administrative and operational expenses associated with launching and maintaining investment vehicles. The platform covers a broad spectrum of domiciles and fund structures, positioning itself as a central hub for managers to compare and source essential services like administration, legal, and now, foreign exchange.

Monex is a global specialist in currency markets and international payments with more than 40 years of experience. The group provides the infrastructure necessary for complex FX execution and risk management, particularly for firms operating in private markets. Its market presence is defined by high-volume turnover and a significant technological footprint, which includes the adoption of advanced SaaS platforms for regulatory alignment and integration with major payment exchanges. The firm operates globally, supporting a diverse range of financial institutions and corporate clients with cross-border payment flows and hedging strategies.

What this means

This partnership highlights a growing trend toward the "platformization" of fund operations. Traditionally, FX has been a secondary consideration for new fund managers, often handled by primary custodians or administrators as a matter of convenience rather than strategic choice. By moving FX earlier into the fund-launch workflow, Fundway is challenging the dominance of traditional banks in the private markets space. For the industry, this signals that specialized fintech providers are successfully unbundling services that were once the sole domain of large-scale prime brokers. The pressure is now on traditional administrators to prove their FX pricing and execution speed are competitive against specialist infrastructure providers like Monex.
