FOREX.com has launched weekend trading for two major US equity indices, allowing traders to access the US SP 500 and US Tech 100 on Saturdays and Sundays. This expansion of CFD markets enables fintech professionals and retail traders to hedge against or speculate on geopolitical and economic developments that occur outside of traditional market hours.

What was announced

The new products, branded as US SP 500 7 Day and US Tech 100 7 Day, are standalone CFD markets separate from the platform’s existing weekday index offerings. These contracts track the broad US large-cap equity market and the technology-heavy segment of the US market, respectively. Trading for these weekend instruments begins at 08:00 UTC on Saturday and runs continuously through the weekend. There is a brief one-hour pause between 21:00 and 22:00 UTC on Sunday, immediately preceding the resumption of regular weekday market pricing.

This launch is designed to address the gap between Friday’s close and Monday’s open, a period often characterized by significant news flow including policy shifts, geopolitical escalations, and unexpected economic data. By providing access to broad-market indices rather than individual stocks, the platform allows users to manage exposure to systemic shifts in market sentiment. These products follow a broader trend at the firm to extend trading windows; earlier this year, the company introduced XAU/USD 7-Day weekend gold trading and expanded its 24/5 US share CFD offering to cover more than 100 US-listed companies. The new index CFDs represent a move from individual securities and metals into broader equity market exposure during non-traditional hours.

"Weekend developments may change the outlook for the broader equity market before regular US cash equity trading resumes. A geopolitical escalation, an unexpected policy signal or a shift in expectations around growth and inflation may quickly alter sentiment across major US indices. Giving traders access to broad-market CFDs over the weekend provides another way to manage that exposure before weekday pricing resumes."

The companies involved

FOREX.com operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of StoneX Group Inc., a major financial services organization publicly traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker SNEX. StoneX provides a wide range of execution, risk management, and advisory services, positioning itself as a significant player in the global financial markets. Through its subsidiaries, the group connects clients to the global financial ecosystem across various asset classes, including equities, commodities, and foreign exchange.

The FOREX.com brand is an established name in the retail trading sector, focusing on providing individual traders with access to complex financial instruments like Contracts for Difference (CFDs) and currency pairs. Its parent company, StoneX, has a history of institutional service that informs the retail-facing technology and market access provided by the subsidiary. By leveraging the infrastructure of a Nasdaq-listed parent, the platform maintains a competitive position in the crowded CFD brokerage market, particularly as it seeks to differentiate itself through extended-market access and a broader range of tradable instruments beyond the standard five-day trading week.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has previously tracked the expansion of out-of-hours trading capabilities at the firm. In August 2026, the publication reported on the launch of FOREX.com Launches 24/7 Gold Trading and Expands 24/5 US Share CFDs to 100+ Companies. That move marked a significant step in the company's strategy to move beyond traditional trading hours, specifically targeting the precious metals market and a wider selection of US equities. The current introduction of weekend index trading builds directly upon that foundation, shifting the focus from specific commodities and individual company shares to broader macroeconomic indicators.

What this means

The move toward 7-day trading for major indices reflects a growing demand for continuous market access in an era of instant global communication. Traditional market "gaps" on Monday mornings have long been a source of risk for traders; by offering weekend CFDs, the platform is attempting to capture volume that would otherwise wait for the Sunday night futures open. This puts pressure on traditional brokerages that still adhere to strict market hours, as retail expectations shift toward "always-on" liquidity. However, it also raises questions about liquidity depth and volatility during these weekend sessions, which lack the underlying cash market support of the NYSE or Nasdaq.
