Press Release: Chronograph Launches Dedicated Claude Plugins to Automate Private Capital AI Workflows | Featured Image by FF News

Chronograph has launched dedicated plugins for Claude, integrating its private capital data directly into AI-driven workflows for fund managers and institutional allocators. This move allows fintech professionals to automate complex tasks like TVPI attribution and cashflow forecasting, bridging the gap between static portfolio monitoring and the interactive capabilities of large language models.

What was announced

Chronograph introduced a suite of plugins for Claude Cowork, Chat, and Code, designed to facilitate purpose-built AI workflows using the firm’s existing Claude Connector. These plugins are not merely prompt interfaces; they are structured with specific instructions, methodologies, and exception handling to ensure deliverables meet institutional standards. The release includes dedicated private capital plugins that contain custom skills designed for distinct, recurring workflows grounded in sound data.

For General Partners (GPs), the plugin offers skills to automate the assembly of quarterly review packs and generate branded investor reports from live data. It also enables portfolio-wide comparisons of actuals versus budget and produces briefs that quantify valuation markups or markdowns by their impact on fund Net Asset Value (NAV). Furthermore, it can attribute fund TVPI by company, surfacing the top drivers and detractors of performance.

For Limited Partners (LPs), the functionality focuses on sophisticated modeling and risk management. This includes forecasting capital calls, distributions, and unfunded commitments using the Takahashi-Alexander "Yale" model. The LP plugin also scans look-through exposures to identify concentration by sector, geography, and currency across multiple fund commitments. Additionally, it assists in manager meeting preparation by surfacing changes in GP reporting since the previous period and drafting key themes for discussion. These tools are available now to all Chronograph clients, providing a drop-in solution for recurring private market workflows.

"Recurring workflows in private markets need a durable data foundation, and that's the layer we've spent ten years building. Skills let users run complicated, multi-step processes on top of it, encoded once, instead of every firm writing the procedure itself. We package the MCP server and the skills together as a single plugin, so clients get the whole workflow as one drop-in piece instead of assembling it themselves."

The companies involved

Chronograph was established in 2016 with the goal of improving trust and efficiency within private capital markets. The company provides technology for portfolio monitoring, valuations, and analytics, serving some of the world’s largest private equity and private credit investors. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, with additional offices in San Francisco and London, Chronograph operates in a market where data transparency is increasingly critical for institutional limited partners and general partners.

The firm is supported by a significant roster of institutional backers, including Sixth Street, Summit Partners, Carlyle AlpInvest, and Nasdaq, Inc. These investors represent a cross-section of the very market Chronograph serves, from global investment firms to major exchange operators. Claude, the AI platform hosting these new plugins, is a prominent large language model that has seen increasing adoption within the financial services sector for its ability to handle complex reasoning tasks. By remaining AI-agnostic, Chronograph positions itself as a data layer that can interface with various providers, though this specific release prioritizes the Claude ecosystem to unlock its most trusted private markets dataset.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has tracked the growing trend of financial technology providers integrating with AI platforms like Claude to enhance operational efficiency. Recently, Rydoo Launches Model Context Protocol Connector to Integrate Expense Management into Claude and ChatGPT, highlighting a similar move to bring specialized data into the Claude environment via the Model Context Protocol. In the digital asset space, we reported that PayBox Integrates Sunrise to Enable AI-Driven Crypto Trading on Solana via ChatGPT and Claude, demonstrating the platform's versatility across different asset classes. These developments suggest a broader industry shift toward "agentic" workflows where AI does more than summarize text, actively participating in data analysis and reporting.

What this means

This announcement signals a shift in private capital technology from passive data storage to active analytical assistance. By embedding specific financial models like Takahashi-Alexander directly into an AI plugin, Chronograph is addressing the "hallucination" risk that often deters institutional investors from using large language models. The move puts pressure on traditional portfolio management software providers who rely on manual reporting templates and static dashboards. The industry is moving toward a standard where the value lies not in the data itself, but in the ability to query that data through natural language without sacrificing the rigor of traditional accounting and valuation methodologies.
