BitGo and HashKey Cloud have entered a strategic partnership to unify digital asset infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region. By combining regulated custody, staking, and real-world asset tokenization, the agreement addresses the growing institutional requirement for end-to-end service providers rather than fragmented point solutions in a maturing digital finance sector that increasingly demands high-compliance standards.

What was announced

The strategic partnership, formally signed at the Fullerton Bay Hotel in Singapore during the TOKEN2049 conference, establishes a multi-layered collaboration between BitGo Holdings, Inc. and WanCloud Ltd., operating as HashKey Cloud. The agreement is designed to bridge BitGo’s global custody infrastructure with HashKey’s established regulated presence in Hong Kong, targeting institutional clients who require a seamless transition between different stages of the digital asset lifecycle.

The partnership is structured around four primary pillars of institutional infrastructure:

  • Staking: HashKey Cloud will integrate as a validator partner on the BitGo platform. This arrangement initially focuses on providing Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) staking services specifically for BitGo’s eligible institutional client base.
  • Trading: The two firms will align their resources to support institutional trading flows, facilitating more efficient movement and execution for large-scale market participants.
  • Custody: BitGo will extend its custody solutions to HashKey Capital and its associated investment funds. This remains subject to standard onboarding procedures and applicable regulatory agreements.
  • RWA Tokenization: BitGo has been designated as the custody partner for HashKey’s initiatives involving the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), a sector seeing increased interest from traditional financial institutions.

The agreement was executed by senior leadership from both organizations, including Abel Seow, Managing Director and Head of APAC Sales at BitGo, and Leo Li, CEO of HashKey OnChain BG. The collaboration seeks to provide a trusted pathway for institutions navigating the complexities of staking, trading, and asset tokenization within a regulated framework.

"We believe this partnership reflects the depth of institutional demand in Asia, where institutions want regulated infrastructure across the full asset lifecycle, not point solutions, and this partnership brings custody, staking, trading and tokenization together with a partner that shares that standard,"

said Abel Seow, Managing Director and Head of APAC at BitGo.

The companies involved

BitGo Holdings, Inc. is a prominent digital asset infrastructure provider that has established a global standard for institutional custody. The firm provides the underlying security and operational framework for a wide range of financial institutions and crypto-native businesses. Its involvement in this partnership leverages its reputation for high-security storage and its ability to integrate complex services like staking and trading into a single platform.

HashKey Cloud, the institutional staking and Web3 infrastructure arm of the HashKey Group, operates under the corporate name WanCloud Ltd. Its parent company, HashKey Group, is a major player in the Asian digital asset market, with a significant regulated footprint in Hong Kong. HashKey Group is also associated with the ticker HKEX: 3887. The group’s ecosystem includes HashKey Capital, an investment firm that will now utilize BitGo’s custody services, and HashKey OnChain BG, led by CEO Leo Li. By combining BitGo’s technical infrastructure with HashKey’s regional regulatory expertise, the partnership positions both entities as central figures in the institutionalization of digital assets across Asia, particularly in the burgeoning RWA and staking sectors.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the expansion of the HashKey Group as it strengthens its position in the Asian financial markets. In 2026, the group made a significant move to increase its regional influence by seeking to acquire Singapore’s Asia Pacific Exchange (APEX). This followed a period of intense collaboration with traditional banking giants; in early 2025, Deutsche Bank helped HashKey Exchange to expand its fiat deposit channels, enhancing the bridge between legacy finance and digital assets. This trend of banking integration was also evident in 2023 when ZA Bank became the first settlement bank for HashKey Exchange. Furthermore, the group has a history of cross-border strategic alliances, such as the 2022 partnership with SEBA Bank, which aimed to accelerate institutional adoption across Hong Kong and Switzerland.

What this means

This partnership signals a definitive shift in the digital asset industry away from "point solutions" toward integrated, full-lifecycle platforms. For the institutional sector, the ability to manage custody, staking, and trading under a single, regulated umbrella reduces operational friction and counterparty risk. This puts significant pressure on smaller, specialized providers who may lack the scale or regulatory licenses to offer a comparable end-to-end service. As Hong Kong continues to solidify its status as a regulated hub for digital finance, the alliance between a global custody leader like BitGo and a regional powerhouse like HashKey suggests that the market is prioritizing compliance and "trusted pathways" over pure technical novelty. The focus on RWA tokenization further indicates that the next phase of industry growth will likely be driven by the migration of traditional financial assets onto the blockchain.
